Remembering Robin Williams as US immigrant Vladimir Ivanoff

As the world is mourning the loss of the great actor and comedianRobin Williams, his achievements in well-known films such as Mrs Doubtfire or Alladin are often highlighted. But did you know that Robin Williams was cast as an immigrant to the USA in one of the first films he starred in?

Playing Vladimir Ivanoff, a Russian saxophonist with the Moscow circus, Moscow on the Hudson (1984) tells the touching story of the joys and difficulties he experiences when he defects whilst on a visit to New York. Rounded out by stories of love, the kindness of strangers, but also struggles with separation from family and low-income jobs, this is a must see film celebrating Robin Williams' oustanding career as an actor.
